FROM THE GUILD HEAD

We are a very active group in our kingdom, with regular meetings, projects, get-togethers and classes. We also have a list on-line besides our web page.

It’s very easy to join the group, there are no ‘dues’, and the only qualification is to be interested in the fiber and needle crafts of the Middle Ages. Notice we only say interested: you do not have to be a master or even a beginner at any craft (we have many members whose main focus is research). To join our guild, show up at meetings or join our group discussions online.

We promote period fiber and needle arts/sciences in Calontir (and the SCA) in many ways. As a Guild we teach classes at RUSH, sponsor a tourney at Lilies War, hold an activities area at Lilies War, present the Crown with largesse, and do projects such as regalia and garb. Individually, not only do we research, but we actively recreate period items as well. We share our skills with those who are interested and teach whoever wants to learn. And we just like to hang out together and have fun.

We hold guild meetings at Crown Tourney, Coronation, Lilies War, and Kris Kinder.

Below are just some of the skills that we learn, teach, and use:

weaving (inkle, tablet, card, loom etc.), knitting, dyeing, spinning, embroidery, braiding, costuming, sewing, felting, research into all these things in period, period fiber animals and their care, period textiles/patterns, as well as how to make the period spindles/looms/wheels, etc. questions? =====

FROM THE WEB MINISTER

Hello everyone.

For those who do not know me, I'm Cara and I'm the new web minister for this site.

I would like to thank Mighel le Brewere for being our web minister. Like him, I would like to eventually include on this web page pictures and articles by members. If you've any suggestions or questions, please send me an email or seek me out at events.
